Always be yourself

Wow – Thursday has arrived already! Although I love short weeks and the prospect of the weekend being around the corner is very appealing, I can’t help but think that time is flying by way too fast (okay, now I sound like my Gran).

Perhaps John Mayer coined it better: “Stop this train I want to get off and go home again, I can’t take the speed it’s moving in, I know I can’t but honestly won’t someone stop this train”

Anyhow, if you are also feeling a little rushed and out of steam – here are some wise words to keep you on track, and if that doesn’t work, there is a poster with some cats riding bikes to get you going again.

Thanks to the clever WEAREYAWN for the motivation.

The past couple of weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster and I am feeling a little battered and bruised.

Monday has come around again and this week is going to be a great one. So far my week is pretty jam packed with exciting adventures, how is yours looking?
The fun starts tomorrow with the Chili Peppers concert and ends in Betty’s Bay for a weekend away.
Hope yours is fab too!

Words to start your week on

Yesterday (Sunday) was my little niece and nephew’s first birthday party. It was a lovely afternoon, my sister’s house was full of kids running about laughing, splashing, eating and generally having a blast.

It was fantastic seeing family I haven’t seen in over a year and catching up with friends, but what really struck me about this day was how quickly time as past since these tiny (very tiny) babies came into our lives. They are big and strong now, but for a while, in the beginning, they where so little and fragile and remembering them hooked up to wires and tubes and machines still seems so scary. It reminds me that we should stop and take account more regularly. Life whizzes by and moments are lost, try to enjoy every step.

I found this great quote by John Hughes (drawn by Friends of Type). I think it sums up my sentiment perfectly.

Linsday lettersAnother week has rushed past and a lovely weekend lies ahead. How has your week been? Busy? Rushed? All over the shop? With a spot of luck, my next week will be a little more predictable and well behaved. Although I have been busy, I really don’t feel I have a lot to show for it.

As it is that time of the week, here are this week’s wise words. They are beautifully penned by Lindsay from Lindsay letters and I spotted them on the ever inspirational Promise Tangeman blog.

Have a fantastic weekend folks!

Yes, it’s that time of the week again, and yes – I have been really bad at putting up my regular Wise Words selection, so this week it’s a bumper crop.
All these pearls of wisdom are from my favourite Five Words.

Friday is here again and hopefully the glorious weather that Cape Town has been blessed with will hold for the next three days (long weekend for us as Alexis and I have taken Monday off too)

Regardless of what the weather is doing where you are I hope that your weekend is a peaceful and relaxing break from the hum drum.

This week’s illustrated wise words are created by Jonathan Ogden (who I have featured before) and are available here.

Happy weekend everyone.

This week’s wise words are from an old favourite of mine, Sean McCabe – his hand lettering is so inspiring.
If you, like me, melt at the sight of gorgeously penned typography then you really should follow him on Instagram too. This guy is a genius! I love his work (even though he does make the inside of my moleskin look like a preschooler’s scribble pad)
