Ferse Verse Goodness

I cannot believe this week is nearly over. I have been crazy busy with an exciting new project I am going launch soon (but more about that later)
In a quest to find simple design that would sooth my eyes and mind, I discovered this cute little online store Frese Verse. They are based in Hong Kong and list only beautifully curated pieces that fit within their ethos of “respecting vintage designs because of their ever-lasting aesthetic and cultural values”.

Kim Buck is goldsmith and creator of these nuggets of shiny goodness. I love all of them, but if I was to pick one, I think I would go for the Swine and Pearls necklace. Which is your favourite?

Weekend Prettiness

Magpie Must Haves

This past weekend was an excellent shopping weekend. I wasn’t planning on it, it just happened. The best part of it was that none of my purchases where over R130! Now that is perfection.

1. The pink suede brogues are from Mr Price, aren’t they adorable? Alexis bought himself a similar pair from the men’s range, only his are a manly grey colour… very smart.

2. The glamorous heart shaped rose print earrings are also from Mr Price. You can always rely on Mr Price’s accessory range to cheer you up with something pretty and inexpensive.

3. Finally the scarf is from Old Khaki. Alexis bought it for me (isnt he a sweetie?) I love LOVE the blue link pattern on it and its so soft and gorgeous. What a pity its been so terribly hot, I am dying to wear it.

I also bought the silliest cover for my iPhone. It is white and has the cutest bunny ears. Okay, it is perhaps a little embarrassing, but it makes me smile and has made me fall in love with my old 3Gs all over again (constantly coveting hubby’s new iPhone is getting boring). Promise to post a pic of it later.

Tale of a horse, a rabbit and a deer.

Aren’t these magical little animals the cutest? I have Anthea from Embracing Style to thank for them. I was luck enough to win them in a recent lucky draw on her gorgeous blog.

This trio of magnificently crafted brooches were lovingly made by the very talented Elske Nel. I have lusted after Elske’s stunning brooches for a while now. Then last year at the Design Indaba, I splashed out and bought one, so I couldn’t have been more pleased to add 3 more Trinket brooches to my collection.

With the nastiness of winter around the corner, I cant wait to pin them to my coats and start showing them off. (I already have a whole outfit planned around the horse brooch)

Thanks once again to Anthea for picking my name and thanks to Elske for creating such adorable creatures to brighten up a gloomy winters day!

Paper Fancies

I discovered Laure Cinotto this afternoon (via Oh Joy). She is a hugely talented florist, a foster Mum to the most adorable kittens as well as talented crafter. Dont you think these bouttonieres are adorable? Kind of makes me wish I had seen them before our wedding.

Guilty jewels

With Easter around the corner, what better way to put to good use the foil that your Easter Bunnies came wrapped in. Jeannette Jansen had a stylish solution: The 3600 kcal necklace. And if that sounds like way too many calories, then you could always opt for the 60kcal pin. Brilliant!

Whimsical jewelry

The magpie in me cannot resist these fairy tale like temptations. Halligan Norris has a wonderful collection of jewelry, each piece telling its own little story. My favorite is this amazing Alice in Wonderland ring.

Tea Rose

The weather in Cape Town is pretty miserable today and in a sad attempt to cheer myself up I went hunting for fabulously sparkly things. Tearose Workshop have some really dainty and special pieces that you simply have to check out.

Cuckoo Clocks

I dream of one day having my own Cuckoo Clock, I love the idea of it chiming and ticking loudly, sort of reminds me of my childhood. In the interim I wouldn’t mind one of these delightful little Cuckoo Clock brooches. Made by Vienna Horses, you have to check out all the other gorgeous pieces, like a wolf with a bird in his tummy and a dreamy bird cloud brooch. Really cute.
