Surprise Balls… more like amazeballs.

Mum, Dad – why did you not tell me about Suprise Balls? I feel deprived!

If you too had NO clue what the heck a Suprise Ball was, then you may want to watch this little clip, created by Kate Spade New York.

Now you can understand why I am so sad that I have no memories of deranged madness trying to unravel all the colorful crepe paper to get to the next little gift. Seriously… I want one!

To make matters worse, I discovered that there are certain magical elves who have taken this crazy cool concept a notch higher.

Take Anandamayi Arnold for instance – Anandamayi is a paper artist who transforms the surprise balls she puts together into something else entirely. Each of her botanical sculptures is, in fact, a little bundle of “surprise” goodness all wrapped up in crepe paper and made to look like an innocent piece of fruit (or a veggie, or a flower even).

Each Surprise is painstakingly put together by Anandamayi, who carefully picks all the little gifts herself and then lovingly sculpts them into these fantastic delights. Only problem is, can you bring yourself to tear one apart to get to the prezzies that wait inside? I dunno? In Anadamayi’s words: “I find some people are mystified that anyone would open them and others are equally mystified that anyone would not.”
