Stuffed animals and birds fascinate me (see my previous post here). There I’ve said it! Weird, I know, but I am hooked – I blame my Mum, she took us kids to the Natural History Museum to see the numerous glass display cases bulging with frozen creatures of every species. I have always been intrigued by nature and animals (birds in particular) and being able to see a real specimen up close was a treat. However the idea that animals are hunted down for just this purpose still does bother me quite a bit.
As much as I would love a gorgeous bird posed on a branch under a bell jar, I simply cant bring my self to buy one. Until today that is, when I discovered “Vegan Taxidermy“.
Each piece is made entirely of bits of wire and paper and modeling clay and is painstakingly sculpted to look like its natural counterpart. Just perfect for the collector with a conscience.
All photos are from “Vegan Taxidermy“.
